CHALLENGE
When an app freezes or crashes in the field, every minute counts. Previously, engineers had to request permission to pull logs from customer devices and manually comb through them. Manual log pulls delayed root‑cause analysis and limited the ability to correlate issues with system metrics. With millions of devices, the reactive approach was untenable.
SOLUTION
We implemented a programmatic log‑pull tool that monitors device metrics and automatically collects logs when critical events such as low‑memory killer or application‑not‑responsive occur. A dashboard visualises CPU, memory and other metrics alongside the logs.
Impact
The tool correlates memory‑killer events with per‑process CPU and memory usage, giving engineers actionable insights in real time. It has become a foundation for proactive diagnostics across the client’s device fleet.
